APPRENTICESHOP

BOAT BUILDING

SCHOOL

Designed during 3rd Year Studio for the Apprenticeshop in Rockland, ME. The Apprenticeshop is a traditional wood boat building school that also teaches sailing and houses a special, nautical-themed branch of the local library. The school creates beautiful wooden sailboats, but doesn't have any way of displaying their works for the broader public. Situated between the busy Main St and waterfront of Rockland Harbor, the site has a sharp grade. The project was designed with the intention of 'fairing', or smoothing the connection between Main St and the harbor, the different site programs, and the public and the school.
