Solutions for
homelessness
in maine
Waterville, ME
A community-based, collaborative project that looked at homelessness in Maine. Together with University of Southern Maine social worker students, our class looked at architectural solutions to homelessness. We partnered with Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter in Waterville to develop a tiny house community to serve the chronic homeless in the area. The emphasis of the design was on community involvement, individual privacy and security, and establishing fiscal sustainability. Each student designed a tiny house for the community, with my personal design focused on developing an ADA tiny house. The entire class put on an exhibit for First Friday Art Walk in Portland that was experienced by hundreds.
